Ana Atanassova
About:
Ana studied Agricultural engineering and further specialised in plant molecular biology. She has worked as a research scientist in academia and the agricultural industry. Since 2010 Ana has dedicated her work on regulatory issues for new technologies in plant breeding and is currently a global regulatory policy manager for BASF Agricultural Solutions in Belgium. Her role has provided an opportunity to learn how different countries regulate modern biotechnology and how they address the appearance of new technologies for plant improvement. She actively contributes to industry association work and is an observer in the UN Convention of Biological Diversity policy discussions on established technologies used for development of biotech crops, as well as on new biotechnological developments such as synthetic biology and gene drives. She also contributes to the industry positions and input towards the UN Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
