Maria Wasastjerna

Partner and Co-Head of Competition practice, Hannes Snellman. Until most recently, Maria was a Senior Legal Counsel at Nokia (Finland), dealing with a wide range of competition matters, managing company-wide compliance, and supporting mergers and acquisitions, among other. Previously, she was Head of Legal at an online advertising start-up and practiced law at a Nordic law firm Roschier, Cleary Gottlieb in Brussels, the European Commission, and the US Federal Trade Commission. Maria holds a PhD from the University of Helsinki and LLM degrees from Georgetown Law and the College of Europe. She has published a timely book on competition, data, and privacy in the digital economy. Maria also regularly publishes articles, presents at conferences, and lectures on competition and technology-related topics. She is a qualified attorney in Finland and the State of New York (US) and has been ranked in Legal 500 for her work in EU and competition law. Maria is a co-founder of Leadcast, a leading Finnish business podcast.
